Me @ Ponmalai…

A beautiful place which I never thought of crossing it. My radical soil, where I learnt to walk, run, play, speak, fight …etc. A spacious place where I had my complete freedom to roam around the corners of ponmalai. Every breath of me was secure and I was careless jaywalker on the streets of ponmalai. Even though now I was in Mumbai I feel restless because its like a relative home and I feel as I lost my holy relation with my mother’s soil. I thought of having a short review about all my lovable places at ponmalai..

During my childhood days my favourite place is “Manjathidal Station”. Every evening I force my father to take me to the station to watch the trains. I really don’t know why I love to watch the train but I feel very happy when the train had crossed me. Then there will be a undiminished happiness in my face. I really feel sorry to my dad for putting him in extra work. Sorry Dad!!!..

My next favourite place is my home and its surrounding. A stepping out of my home will be the ground, where I use to play like a crouching tiger for its prey .At that time I was accompanied by a group of sisters and brothers of one year or two years of age difference, With whom I play “Nadu pirithal, Sathura Papathi, Ice boy, Current, Bamparam, Kolly kundu, Pae pae, Seven stone, Complan flight disc….etc.” all these games steal my childhood times. Now slowly these games are getting extinct due to TV and Cricket. Future generation is going to miss such flawless happiness.(Will soon c a post on “extinct games”)..

As we are grown and due to some female quotient all those sisters are not allowed to mingle with us. And at this time cricket was stealing the attraction of every Indian child. I too fall on the trap and now cricket becomes my passion. By now my favorite place is Cricket ground. Whereas my parent’s don’t like me playing cricket and they locked me in the home, through the doors I will be watching what others play. All my neighbors will be kidding at me to my mother saying , “Senthil amma the sunrays are getting wasted and allow senthil to play otherwise tomorrow sun will never arise”. I look on my mother with a disappointed face...

And by now am in sweet teen age and I had my wings to fly. So I just roamed all the corners of ponmalai and left my foot mark in all the directions. One beautiful place which I had seen is there was a garden at G-corner with some beautiful plants and big trees covering the entire ground space of the garden. This place has enough numbers of birds singing and rejoicing. Bad luck is this area was governed by the Railways and we are not allowed to stay for a long time…

Another beautiful place which I came to know through my friend’s is “Vouyagonda Vaikal”. When we all moved towards to south end of ponmalai that is crossing M.K. Kottai we find this water stream. With lot of amuesment we all will sink into the water and the biggest fun lies in pulling and pushing one into the water and falling over him ensuring tat he was completely immersed into the water for few seconds. What a thrill yar?? .Now seeing those childhood friend itself becomes as miracle then what to say about a play in water. Beauty is surrounding this water stream you can see only the paddy fields stretching for miles …..

Now the well frog is out of the well. Yes for my higher secondary studies I have to go to K.K. nagar by getting into two buses (Hurting travel in bus no.17, 109 & then 88 really too bad) . I really like our bus stop”Mariamman kovil” bus stop. There where four big trees providing the shadow for the passengers to stand and single tea stall then a small bus stop with seating arrangements. Since these four trees are too big and it has lot of birds residing and enjoying. The atmosphere looks pleasant during the rainy season, since aside the bus stop there will be a small water stream which has small fishes, crabs, snail, water snakes…etc. I really love to watch and find any of them in the water. Often during my sad account I use to sit in the bus stop and relax.

I hope the post continues whenever am into the same account ….
